An Introduction To Security In IPsec

Early in the existence of the commercial Internet, the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) recognized that there was a need for a robust end-to-end security design for IP networks. This resulted in a number of RFCs (requests for comments) being authored to create an overlay security design in the network layer. IPsec remains the dominant virtual private networking technology and is widely deployed in handsets, gateways and carrier grade VPN service routers. This article which is hosted by networkZone introduces IPsec, outlines the required RFCs and explains how IPsec is integrated into network stacks.

Define the right approach for DRM

It's become the norm for digital rights management (DRM) designs to be cracked shortly after they're introduced. Among the reasons are poor software designs that leave keys exposed, interception of unencrypted content at a vulnerable point in the system, or the use of new and untested ciphers that are compromised.

Semiconductor Event Highlights Growing Popularity of Logic Nonvolatile Memory in New Chip Designs
More than 160 semiconductor industry professionals attended the "Logic NVM 2007 - Inside Tomorrow's Consumer Electronics" event held on June 14, 2007, in Santa Clara, Calif. Organized by Impinj, Inc., the event's founding sponsor and a leading logic nonvolatile memory (NVM) intellectual property (IP) supplier, Logic NVM 2007 focused on system-chip design challenges and the growing demand for embedded NVM for high-growth electronics applications such as mobile phones, MP3 players, USB controllers, and Flash drives.

LinuxInsider story on hardware security in consumer electronics.
"As the demands that content such as high-definition television programming make on the central processors in electronic devices grows, so, too, will the processing demands to keep that content secure. To keep those security demands from swamping the performance of a system, system architects have started handing off those functions to embedded systems dedicated to security."
